Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to try out quite a few baby monitors and while I’ve found some I love and some not so much, it’s always great to be able to compare different models and features so that when you all ask me, I know all of the pros and cons and ups and downs of so many models. And over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to try out the Cubo Ai Baby Monitor and so I’ve put all of the information into one place - the pros and the cons, an ultimate baby monitor comparison - and I’ve got a very thorough Cubo Ai Baby Monitor review for ya!

So what is the best baby monitor out there? Let’s walk through some features and I’ll have an answer for ya!

Now let me first start out by saying this:

I don’t believe there is one best baby monitor for everyone so here’s a little baby monitor comparison for you, based on all of the monitors we’re tried out over the years and the feature’s I’ve seen and have loved (or not loved). We all have different wants and needs and like and dislikes and so, the best baby monitors out there definitely differ from one family to the next. 

With that being said, I’m going to review all of the Cubo Ai baby monitor features we’ve experienced after using it for a couple of weeks now and you can determine which features are must-haves for you and your family. [Spoiler Alert: I’m pretty sure they thought of everything.]

There are quite a few, actually.

• Pictures: Throughout the day and the night, the Cubo Ai baby monitor snaps photos of your precious babe. Not a must-have but pretty fun, right>

• Alerts actually alert you. Most baby monitors we’ve tried out come with monitors but the past couple we’ve used are all app based. So here’s the thing - I love being able to access via an app. I can’t sleep at night when there’s a monitor there on my night stand because I check it every two seconds and just don’t sleep well. And heck, it's so nice being able to have my monitor with me wherever I go. But the one thing so many of you have said you don’t like about not having a monitor is this — “How will I wake up if my baby is crying? There’s no way I’ll hear a simple notification on my phone!” Well first of all, you can leave the monitor on if you’d like with the sound on or off. And second, I tested it out and I actually wake up to the tweeting alert the Cubo Ai monitor makes. It’s like a high pitched tweeting sound that’s actually quite relaxing but loud enough and high pitched enough to wake me up in the middle of the night (hard to explain but you can take my word for this one!)

• Baby Safety Alerts: Now these are just so cool. You can turn them on or off but there are alerts for when your baby has flipped onto their tummy (best for young babies) or alerts when your baby’s face is covered (for older toddlers who sleep with blankets). I mean, how cool is that?! And again, you can turn them off if you don’t want them on.

• Viewing when you aren’t home: Whether you’ve got a babysitter at home for a couple hours or while you’re at work or you’re away on a trip and your kids are home, you can view these monitors back at home. This isn’t something we’ve personally needed to use but hey, I know lots of families who would absolutely love this feature!

• Full Video Recording: Other monitors we’ve tried out require you to pay if you want to see full recordings. But the Cubo Ai monitor records everything for play back for a full 18 hours. Not a necessity but it’s kind of fun to watch back at their cute little bodies wiggling around throughout the night… or maybe that’s just me ;)

• Zone Settings: Okay this is really cool, if you ask me. Let’s say your baby is sleeping out in the living room and you want to step into the kitchen to do some dishes. You can set zones within the camera view and it’ll alert you if your baby moves from that zone. Or say your kids are playing in one room and you’re working in another, you can set full room zones to alert you if they move from that room. Basically, it’s like a robot babysitter that alerts you of potential dangers or trouble and that, my friends, is something I’ll jump on board with any day of the week. And yes, you can set the zone for the crib at night too… just in case you’ve got a baby who’s a climber!

• It grows with you: Every Cubo Ai monitor comes with a crib attachment (attaches directly to the crib - this is the way we currently have it in Franky’s room], a stand [in case you still want that overheard view but want to be able to move it from room to room], or you can remove the monitor itself if you want to put it on a shelf for a toddler room or use it as a nanny came out in the living room!

• View from Above: This is one of my favorite features — the fact that you can view your baby directly from above and no crib rails or anything else gets in the way of that view. It’s a perfect view.

• Help Center: I’ve never experienced a Help Center like this one. I’ve chatted in three times to ask questions about the monitor and every single time, I’ve gotten a response within a couple of hours — absolutely amazing, if you ask me.

Must-have features (in my opinion) that Cubo Ai offers:

• Picture Quality: I don’t know about you but I want to be able to see Franky’s tummy going up and down whether it’s nap time during the day or pitch black in the middle of the night. And you can see that picture quality for yourself!

• Multiple Monitors on One App: This is an absolute must-have for me! I don’t typically check on Ava while she’s sleeping but when we have play dates, I love being able to check on the kids up there because they’re always in her room!

• Multiple Users: You and your spouse can both access the same cameras. And you can also give babysitters or family members partial access for viewing purposes only while they’re watching the kids!

• Travel: You can bring the small monitor with you when you travel.

Other Features that may be on your must-have list:

• Two-Way Talk

• Temperature + Humidity Alerts (you set the highs and lows as you wish!)

• Nigh Light (you can turn the light on or off from your phone, which is great for toddlers who may want a little light or for you to use for middle of the night nursing sessions)

• Cry Detection (you set the sensitivity)

Missing Features [see update below!]

• Built-In Sound Machine: Now the one feature that it seems to be missing is a built in sound machine, allowing me to play music or white noise throughout the night. We actually have a white noise/night light combo machine in Franky’s room so to me, this isn’t the biggest deal at all but figured I’d mention it! But you know what’s so cool about this? Updated Features on the Cubo Ai Plus

Since we’ve got Hayes on the way and due to make his debut in just a couple short months, we snagged the new Cubo Ai Plus monitor and we’re loving it so far!
